Sorry we've been MIA for so long but WOW, what a week....or year, rather. You'll probably remember, it all started when my cousin Ryan passed away on April 10. He had been battling Pancreatic Cancer off an on for around 3 years. My cousins and I are very close so this was a hard blow. A BIG TIME hard blow. I spent a few days in Minnesota for the memorial service and when I got back... I believe it was like a day and a half later... I found out my grandpa Carl (same side of the family as Ryan) was diagnosed with stage IV Colon Cancer. Ouch. Are you kidding me? This had to be a joke!! Unfortunately, it wasn't. He had surgery to remove a large tumor from his colon but of course it had already spread. Things progressed quickly after that. He had a blood transfusion last Thursday and decided not to attempt Chemo, so on Friday, they called in Hospice. Dac and I headed down there Sunday. I am so happy I was able to see him, give him a hug, and tell him I loved him, but am devastated that it meant seeing him in his final days. He passed away just a few minutes after we left Tuesday morning. My dad and I headed back to Louisianna Wednesday morning. The grandkids planned and put together the memorial service. That was such a rough job but I think he'd be pleased. Dad and I headed home Friday after the service. To say I'm completely exhausted would be a total understatement. I don't think I've ever been so tired and so drained as I am right now. Quite frankly, I think we've just had to endure a bit too much in such a short time. Thankfully though, I know God is with us and through this he has and will continue to do great things. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, patience, and understanding during this tough time!
Now then, on to less depressing things!! =) About a month ago, we photographed Joey and Samantha's wedding. You might remember them from this post. I loved their wedding. It was super laid back but yet very glam! Sammi was gorgeous and the decor was very reminiscent of a Tiffany's box! It doesn't get much more glam than that! The bridesmaids even got the sweetest little Tiffany's necklaces they wore for the wedding. Like I said, the wedding and reception were laid back, and so were the happy couple. Both seemed so at ease and so in love! Here are a few of our favorites from the day:
